Have you ever noticed how stress makes us time travel? But the vibe isn't exactly as cool as in Back to the Future (not to ruin your day but I just realised it was released FORTY years ago). Anyway, what we're talking about here is a much more insidious journey.
The Stress JourneyStress transports us to two toxic places: The Anxious Future
The Paralyzing Past
The Remedy: Come back here and nowThe surest way to short-circuit this toxic time travel is to bring ourselves back to the present moment. And how do we do that? We focus on the only thing that always happens here and now. The breath. And that's why meditation works. Meditation does exactly that: it forces your brain to let go of these cursed time travels and return to the only moment that matters - now. Letting go is a very popular concept, and for good reason: we're constantly pulled in all directions, and at the same time, we never feel like we're doing enough. This leads us to have thoughts that are natural, but really not constructive, like: "if only life were simpler", "if only I had more time", "if only I had fewer things to manage". But guess what?
