The real reason why you're low on energy

You know how sometimes you know something is true… but somehow you still struggle to believe it?

Like Trump actually being popular or the fact that tiles A and B are the same colour:

One of mine is “exercise gives you energy”.

How is it that we have more energy when we exercise even though exercising requires a lot of energy 🤨

I've been feeling sluggish lately, and I know that it's because I have not moved much in the past few weeks (ok, months).

Between the move, travelling and getting a cold... I have done the absolute minimum in terms of yoga and strength training, and boy do I feel it.

And now that autumn is in full swing, you might also be feeling that your body is preparing for hibernation.

What are we but animals falling prey to the whims of the seasons changing?

But please keep in mind that the less you do, the less you'll feel like doing. And pushing yourself to do this one small workout will give you a boost of energy that will get the ball rolling.

And there's a very scientific reason behind it.

Let me explain.

Exercise improves blood flow, which helps oxygen and nutrients get to your tissues. Your body then functions better and feels less fatigued. And when your heart and lungs work better, you feel more energetic for your daily tasks.

Not only that, but oxygen also flows better to your brain, improving your capacity to think!

Try fitting a short yoga practise in the middle of your day and you'll see that you won't have your afternoon crash. And you'll be more productive at work.

This is another reason why I love yoga, by the way.

When I lift weights in the middle of the day, sure I feel better afterwards, but I'm also tired (and hungry as) because I pushed myself to do something very hard.

But yoga relaxes and energises me at the same time (which also sounds paradoxical, but it's not).

When we do yoga, we move just enough to get the blood to flow better without trying to get our muscles to failure. So we get the soothing effect of mindul breathing AND a lovely energy boost.

If your energy is currently a bit low...

I would love to help you get it back with a gentle movement routine that fits into your life. I want to make sure you are showing up at your best for these last few months of the year!

I am opening the doors of Yoga with Clem for the last time this year! And as a thank you for reading my weekly emails, I would like to give you a big big early bird discount on my Body & Mind Reset programme...

Have a read at the programme page to make sure this is the right fit for you. When you're ready to sign up, type in the secret code EARLY24 to get a massive 20% off during the 3 months of the programme 😍

(careful, this offer is very limited in time and quantity, because my landlord doesn't believe in discounts)

If you have any questions or if you're unsure, don't hesitate to write to me on WhatsApp. I absolutely want you to feel like this is a "HELL YES!" and that you'll get all your expectations fulfilled 💖

Let's make the best out of 2024 together!

Om, peace 🧡

Clem

In a world constantly telling us "if you want it, you can achieve it" and promoting self-care at every turn, I've been reflecting on a crucial question: Are we truly responsible for our own well-being? Our generation has been raised on empowerment narratives, yet we sometimes forget that our mental and physical health doesn't solely depend on us. Social, cultural, environmental, and political contexts significantly impact how we feel. Media and social networks profit from our fears and...

This week, I want to encourage you to cut yourself some slack. Letting go is a very popular concept, and for good reason: we're constantly pulled in all directions, and at the same time, we never feel like we're doing enough. This leads us to have thoughts that are natural, but really not constructive, like: "if only life were simpler", "if only I had more time", "if only I had fewer things to manage". But guess what? Life is chaotic. That's the price to pay for a rich life, surrounded by...

Let’s talk about mental health. It’s a topic that’s close to my heart, both for personal reasons, and because it comes up often with my clients. One of them asked me last week: “What can you do when your self-esteem is at zero? How can yoga help you take that first step toward having a little bit of ego?” I think that’s such a powerful question. I truly believe that one of the main ways depression keeps itself going is through inaction. Depression makes you not want to do anything, so you...
