How to stay motivated when it's 35°C 🥵

It’s not always easy to motivate yourself to move on a regular day, but when it’s 35°C… Yet it’s still just as important to take care of yourself and your body. So how do we do it? Well, we adapt!

Yoga is for the morning!

Today, I did yoga with one of my clients at 8:00, when it was still “only” 23°C, and it was divine. We did just enough movement to energize and relax before what promised to be an intense day.

It reminded me how important it is to adapt our practice to the season.

If you have no choice and must practice during the day, don’t hesitate to close the shutters and use a fan.

I also recommend opting for gentler yoga styles, like yin yoga or slow flows. I love all the floor poses, self-massage, and breathing exercises that help regulate body temperature. For example, the Sitkari technique, where you breathe in air through clenched teeth.

After practice, a lukewarm shower (not cold) can also help you regulate temperature without shocking your system.

And of course, we drink throughout the day, not just during practice.

A little, often

As always: consistency trumps intensity. Better to have 10 minutes of gentle daily practice than one exhausting session per week.

This can be an opportunity to explore other, less physical aspects of yoga: 10 minutes of meditation in early afternoon, a few lines of journaling upon waking, a moment of reflection and gratitude practice before bed…

Om, peace 🧡

And understanding it changes everything about how you approach movement. Here's what's really happening in your body Every night while you sleep, your fascia (the connective tissue that wraps around your muscles and organs) literally grows...

If you’ve tried massaging and stretching muscles in your neck, shoulders, back or legs… and the tightness just won’t go away, may I present you the annoying truth that weak muscles feel tight. Imagine you’re on a very unstable bridge, or on ice skates. You’re not confident in your ability to do the simple job of staying upright. What do your muscles do? Do they kick back and relax… or do they tense? Something similar happens in your body when your muscles can't provide the stability you need....

You’ve probably heard the advice that mindfulness meditation isn’t recommended for people with depression. But what’s the real story behind this warning? I wanted to share some insights on this complex topic because, honestly, the answer isn’t black and white. Why mindfulness can sometimes backfire First, there’s a practical issue: depression often reduces our ability to concentrate and our energy levels, both essential for mindfulness practices. While you can start with very short sessions,...
